The Knowing
Introduces the characters at start with real time speaking and slow piano music, various smooth shots of the same location fade in and out. At 0.43 the music and tone changes as we see a dark figure in the woods. Which is also where the first title screen comes on with glitchy writing. After, the pace picks up as shot duration is shorter, and becomes very dramatic very quickliy with themes of robotics.
Sixth Sense
Starts with a continuos shot and the boy talking in a slow and mysteriuos tone. Then a quiet montage comes in with frequent fade to blacks used. This quickly lets us know the setting and the context of the film. Very subtle music is used to allow the audience to focus on Cole whispering which creates suspense, to which the pace speeds up nearer the end to reinforce the tension.
If I Stay
There is a peaceful start to this trailer as we introduced to the protaganists and their intrests, chello music is playing in the background along with a voice over explaining more about the story. We begin to see the genre of rom com enter through the two out on a date, however at 1.19 everything changes. The car crash is shown simplistically with the chello drop followed by a black screen, to which we just see the after math of the accident in slow motion. A more emotional sequence is shown in the hospital with a powerful song behind it.
2:22
There is short burst of clips of a dream to start, then goes into the everyday routine of the main character so the audience can understand what he is feeling. The tension rises when two planes are about to collide and so we see another short burst of clips displaying the characters thoughts of fear in that moment. After that the tone changes from a thriler to a rom com, however quickly moves on to a mystery as patterns start appearing in his life, from there we are left on a cliffhanger.
